Artist & Storyteller

everything holds the possibility of transformation

I'm Angel. A multidisciplinary artist telling stories through writing, painting, filmmaking and illustration.

In awe of the female body and the transformation inherent within nature, my mission is to express and experience the infinite possibilities of transformation and redemption in and through imaginative storytelling where women are the roots and bones.

Inspired by folklore, mythology, surreality of dreams, human bodies, water & ecology, my practise is a holistic embodiment of traditional art forms that root me in the wild animal of my female body and earth. Channeling the language of cinema, literature, and painting I'm exploring stories as medicine.

I am also director & co-founder of renowned design and illustration studio Lást. We specialise in immersive branding and visual storytelling that captures the story of a place and its people. We celebrate the call to creation and nature, outdoor adventure, heritage artisanship, and the power of telling your story with your own unique visual language. From narrative based story experiences to illustrated maps to fine art film poster designs, to murals in the mountains, to dreamlike folklore art prints, to artisan brand collaborations -  there's no limit to where our inspirations take us.

A lifetime of moving around the world, shapeshifting and failing to fit into any norm I've learnt that being an outsider is power and the edges are where the magic happens. You'll find me  mixing and melting forms, playing in the dark and reaching for the magic in creation. Currently, I'm experimenting with a fusion of fiction/theatre/painting to discover a new hybrid language of rebirth, where stories are the home.

My intention is to inspire a remembering. A connection - with our bodies, with nature, and our stories. To ignite new ways of seeing, self-reflection & agency. My work is an invitation...

Kids Just Wanna Fly

I'm so excited to share that Ben Porter's latest photography book featuring the original writing of 8 unique authors - including me! - is available to purchase now! It was an honour to be asked to contribute to this special book, that captures the vulnerable, courageous, beautiful naivety  of youthful ambition through a uniquely specific lens that connects the reader with the timeless universal feelings of adolescence. It's a slice of magic.

Published by Overt Books, launching 7th November 2025. You can purchase this beautiful book at here.

Painting

Oil painting, for me, is a pressure-free landscape of exploration and creation for creation's sake. I love the quality of oil paints for their luminescent depth and that I know I'll spend the rest of my life as a humble learning student of this traditional paint medium that is soaked in long a heritage and mythology.

A selection of my postcard-sized oil paintings inspired by my body, the deliciousness of water, surreality of dreams, and exploration of colour and texture.

Film

I love the hands-on and collaborative nature of filmmaking and I am still learning from the talented, generous artists that helped make each of these ambitious indie film passion projects a reality. Below are some of my films as writer/director/producer/editor.

The Hut

A short film by Angel Jones

A woman finds herself stranded in a wilderness mountain hut after a mysterious snowstorm accident. Alone with only herself to talk to on a broken radio, she is faced with some unnerving revelations and uncanny enounters...

I love the relentlessness of nature’s wild because it inspires the most beautiful, brave, surprising, vulnerable and grotesque qualities in all of us. Perfect for a bit of magic realism and dark comedy.

Learn more about my learn-by-doing process of making The Hut over at my Substack where I share my filmmaker's blog here and here, and here.

Apricity

An experimental short film by Angel Jones

Conjured up in the darkness of a sleepless night in the depths of an English winter in lock-down ,I wanted to create a unique, transformative expression of insomnia on the creative soul, fixed in the twilight , unable to create whilst also filled with the need to make.  I was motivated by this paralysis and solitude, and the constraints of the pandemic. My desire for collaboration and to playfully and experimentally express what I was experiencing through film manifested into Apricity: a stop motion film using analogue photography, music and poetry.

Shot on a film camera by renowned experimental artist Katie Lou McCabe as single stills, and then hand-developed in her dark room using classic analogue techniques, this experimental short film is a love letter to the creative process and the beauty that resides in the shadows.

Our unique art film is in its final stages of development - with the original music being created by Katie McCabe herself.  I look forward to sharing it with you in the warm light of this coming winter...

Apricity: Old English word to describe the warmth of the winter sun in the depths of winter.

Learn more about the making here. Apricity will debut January 2026.

Adira's Dream

a feature film co-written & starring Angel Jones

I co-wrote and starred in the award-winning independent feature film Adira’s Dream, directed by visionary artist Oliver Williams, which premiered at Madrid International Film Festival 2019,  winner of multiple international awards including Best Actress and Best Story.

Capturing the surreal untouchable river of dreams, and the underworlds of insomnia on an I-phone, the film follows aspiring screenwriter Adira, as she travels the confusing landscapes of selfhood and self-creation, and the lonely planes of dating in an online world, via the conceit of re-writing her failed relationship. Shot in London, Iceland, and our purpose-built set in Oxfordshire, it's an exploration of self-mythologizing and ambition itself.

As my first deep dive into filmmaking, this was a wildly ambitious, experimental and immersive learning experience. My first time writing other people's stories, which I then went onto do professionally before realising that I wanted to tell my own stories. It also gave me the confidence to make my first tiny film, A Girl for Everyday of the Week.
